Assembling And Its Uses

Meaning of 'Assembling'
By the term 'assembling', is meant assembling of product, in a big quantity, from scattered productive units, at some centers. In the opinion of Prof. Pyle, Assembling is that activity in which the things proceed towards a central point or market from many producers or manufacturers.
Whatever crops are grown up in the fields by the cultivators and the things which are produced by the manufacturers in the factories, their object is to meet the demands of the consumers. Since the consumers remain scattered in different places, hence it is -not possible for the producers or manufacturers that they could transport such goods to these consumers. For sending the products from different manufacturers or producers to the different markets, in reasonable quantities at appropriate time, the assembling is needed. Within the process of assembling, after purchasing the goods from different producers in different regions or areas, they are collected or stored at seine place, so that in various regions, where the consumers exist, these could be distributed. Mainly the work of assembling is performed by the wholesellers.
The activity of assembling is not necessary only for the produced commodities of the agricultural sphere but it is also necessary for the items manufactured by the factories or mills which are used as raw materials in other factories.

Uses of Assembling
The following are some of the main uses or advantages of the process of assembling:
(1)    Helpful in the Expansion of the 'Market. Due to the assembling, it becomes possible to supply the goods even to the far- off or very much distant places which results in the expansion of the markets.
(2)   Stability in Prices. Due to assembling, it becomes possible to maintain the supply in conformity with the demand, which ultimately leads to stability in the prices.
(3)   Availability of Goods, at One Single Place, to the Middlemen. Due to the assembling, the goods of their need is available to the middlemen at one place and they are not required to visit various places.
(4)   Advantage to the Consumers. Due to the assembling, the consumers are in a position to get the supply available on the definite or fixed prices continuously.
(5)   Facility in Standardization and Gradation. Since the goods have to be collected at some specific centers, due to it the work of standardization and gradation becomes quite easy and simple. As a consequence of assembling, the expenditure also is less incurred in standardization and gradation.
(6)   Reduction in Transport Expenses. By collecting the goods through the process of assembling, not only is the facility in transporting the goods from their production centers to the markets, but due to transporting the goods in bulk quantities, there is also effected sufficient economy in the transport and collection (storage) expenses.
(7)   Possible in Agriculture and Industry. Assembling is undertaken with the co-operation of many intermediaries and is possible, therefore, both in the spheres of agriculture and manufactured goods.
(8)   Availability of the Seasonable Products. The commodities which are grown up during some specific seasons, if are assembled at some central points, these remain available to the consumers for the consumption all the year round.
